The concept of online dating is elusive, confounding, and enigmatic to me. Sure, I’ve heard of success stories – to be exact, two friends who have succeeded in finding their husbands through dating apps such as OkCupid, Coffee Meets Bagel, and Hinge.

But it’s the idea of steering clear of creepers, liars, and cheats that makes navigating the online dating landscape just a little big tough.

What is it about online dating that makes it so appealing? How does “likes clubbing’, ” want to travel to Antarctica”, and ” likes to bungee jump ” sound to you? And then there’s ” wants kids “, “open to kids”, and “don’t want kids” all of which is obscure and open to interpretation.

What is it about “chatting”, “ghosting”, and “flirting” that makes it fascinating and interesting? Tell me mom – is he too fat, too short, or didn’t go to a good college?
