my culinary & etcetera blog

welcome to my food and more blog that I’ve created whimsically

definition of whimsically:  in an unusual or slightly silly way that people find either funny or annoying according to Google :O)

it’s been raining lightly for days on end these past weeks which ( in my mind ) means soup weather and taking care

on a whim, decided to drive myself to the nearest Korean supermarket: Hmart

the supermarket was bustling with life, with all walks of people getting their shopping for the week done. This included husbands waiting on their wives, women shopping on their own, and seemingly single men getting their share of shopping done as well.

finding my way through the relatively crowded supermarket, I managed to be right on time for a fresh batch of kimbab ( or Korean sushi ). A quick second decision: kimbab with fish cake for $8.99

next on the list was spam. with musabi on my mind, I hesitated at each aisle scanning for the signature SPAM can. To no avail though, I found myself faced with a wall of soups and sauces. Think quick, I thought. You can never have enough coconut milk

next came the search for the shortest checkout line ~

one-two step: found a relatively short line behind a husband and wife. then placed my basket on the conveyor belt. next waited for the couple to take their sweet time packing their groceries

Swipe went my card on the ATM machine. Total rang up to about $12

left the supermarket without using their plastic grocery bags. kudos to Berkeley ~

now that i’m home, i’m scarfing down on the kimbab while brainstorming what to do with the coconut milk

options? Coconut Curry Vegetable Soup or Mango Sticky Rice. with the vegetable soup, I don’t have celery, potato, and vegetable broth. with the sticky rice, I don’t have mango

Hm, on the search for the missing items next week when I’m more prepared
